District 3 Meeting Minutes – February 11th, 2019


ROLL CALL: Ray Bradshaw called meeting to order.

CLUBS PRESENT: All members present.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Reviewed and approved January minutes.

TREASURERS REPORT: Ray gave report of District 3 checking account balance. Contact Ray for financial information.

CONSERVATION REPORT: Barry Potteiger reviewed changes with 2019 Fish season regulations.

PUBLIC RELATIONS/MEMBERSHIP: Ray reviewed the 2019 District 3 By-Laws and presented copies for club to review with their members.

TOURNAMENTS: District 3 is looking for 2019 tournament director. Contact Ray Bradshaw or Mike Sabbi for details. Reviewed possible off limit area of the no wake zone at the May 19th North East event. If the BFL tourney scheduled for May 14th doesn’t have a release boat this area will be off limits. All waters will be open for the August 4th Conowingo event if both anglers have Maryland fresh water license.

NEW BUSINESS: Ray Bradshaw discussed changes for additional tournament payout for those members who volunteer during District activities. Steve Koch gave update on the March 9th Wellsville Flea Market. All tables have been sold.

OLD BUSINESS: Barry Potteiger reviewed a successful Pa Outdoor Show Reel Kids event. Total of 833 kids took part in the four day event. All kids received a new rod/reel for taking part in the event.

YOUTH: Mike Sabbi looking for a member to take over running the Quad State High School event at North East for Sunday July 14th.

Youth & Conservation: George Bowers

  • Gave an overview of the benefit tournament held by Wayne County Bassmasters on October 28, 2018 on Lake Wallenpaupack that benefitted “Fishing for a Cause”.  There were 21 teams in attendance.  The tournament was won with 15.93# by Joe Pacholec Jr. and Joe Pacholec Sr.  The lunker of the tournament was a 5.79# laregmeouth bass.
  • Jamie Park of Wayne County Bassmasters passed away this year and in lieu of a flower arrangement and such, a donation was made in his name to the “Fishing for a Cause” fund.
  • The “Fishing for a Cause” awarding will be presented to recipient Michael Ambrose on December 17th and there will be an article in the Times Leader on December 23rd.
  • George will be handing out rods and reels before the Christmas holiday to children in the Geisinger Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.

  • A reminder that the members have access to “World’s Greatest Deals” as a part of your FLW Membership and there are many great discounts even locally available for you.
  • There will be no “Last Chance” tournament in 2019.  There may be a partner event held in lieu of this.
  • The state would like that the District tournaments be completed four weeks prior to the NCSF District 14 event now that they are state sanctioned events and are direct qualifiers for the NCSF.
  • Volunteers are needed at the Outdoor Show in Harrisburg in February to assist with the Reel Kids event and to man the TBF booth during the event.
  • July 14, 2019 is the Quad State Tournament.
  • April 12 & 13, 2019 is the MR BASS tournament on Lake Anna.
  • June 21 & 22, 2019 is the PA TBF State Championship on Raystown Lake.
  • July 19 & 20, 2019 is the Team Regional 1 Tournament on Cayuga Lake.
  • September 21 & 22, 2019 is the NCSF District 14 Tournament at Lake Champlain out of Ticonderoga.
  • End of the Year dinner was served.
  • Many raffle prizes at meeting.

  • 2019 Tournament Schedule was then discussed and created.
  • April 7, 2019 @ Lake Wallenpaupack out of Capri Marina
  • August 3, 2019 @ Cayuga Lake out of Dean’s Cove
  • August 4, 2019 @ Cayuga Lake out of Dean’s Cove
  • July 21, 2019 is the alternate date in case the April 7 tournament does not take place due to ice.
  • NEPA Bass is disbanding for the 2019 season.
  • Discussion on when to have the first meeting of 2019 then took place.
  • Chris Longo mentioned that Susquehanna Fishing Tackle has many events at their location starting in January with Bass Fest and to view the website for a complete list or contact them for details.
  • Motion was made by Lunker Landers 2nd by Leggett’s Creek Bassmasters to pay Major League Sports Bar for our Christmas Party and a check was written today.
