MR BASS 2023 – FINAL

Number 2. That is what Mitch Heaton was able to do. With the day 1 leader coming up empty, his brother was able to pick up the slack and was sitting in 1st with just under a 5 pound lead waiting on Mitch. As he approached the stage, he announced he had 5 so it was just a matter of putting them on the scale for him to pick up his 2nd Mr Bass Champion at Lake Anna. Coangler leader Bill Lidwell would only bring 1 to the scales today that he didn’t need to remain the Coangler Champion. Here are the standings.

A nicer start to day 2 under a fine mist and 55 degrees with partly cloudy skies and 74 degrees forecasted. Boat 4, Larry Foor has a slight lead over Mitch Heaton of 1.75lbs. In 4th place, Chris Episcopo is in striking distance only 4.18lbs out. All 3 of these anglers are past champions and have been around big fish all week; who gets a couple of them today. On the coangler side Bill Lidwell goes out with a little less than a 4lb lead but there are a lot of big fish roaming. Another case of who gets that big bite. Weigh-in at 3pm

After a very nice few days of practice, anglers were greeted with steady rain this morning that is scheduled to continue throughout the day. There were reports of large fish on the move and hopes were high this morning in spite of the weather. At 3pm we will see what they were able to find. Check back here.

We had a good tournament.  The weather cooperated and we had some really nice fish weighed in.

A special thanks to Kevin Zimmerman and Donn Troutman for helping with weigh in and Mike Prentiss for helping tear down and clean up.

District 2 – Williamsport, 4/2/23

Location – Williamsport, PA
Launch Site – Antlers (Linden Access)
Dates – Sunday, April 2nd
Time – 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, (if we can launch earlier we will try)
Registration – 6:00 am to 6:45 am

Do not launch your boat until you have checked in, completed the boat check and met up with your co-angler.
This will be a 3 fish tournament, 15″ minimum.
No culling of dead fish. Dead fish MUST be taken with you.
Lunker Fee is $10 and Lunker must be a live fish.
All PA Boating and Fishing rules and regulation must be adhered to at all times.
All PA Bass tournament rules apply.
Angler must fish from the front deck and the Co-Angler must fish from the rear deck only.
It is suggested that the cost of the gas/oil used during the day be shared between the boater and the rider.

This will be a trailered weigh in. When you weigh-in, come up to the table, turn in your numbers, get and sign your weigh-in slips (keep them), then get in line for a bag (CANNOT use your own). Get your fish from your boat; have bag dinked; weighed. Give me your slip, verify weight and get your yellow copy. Return fish to water and return bags to table where you got them.

Last boat will call out numbers and each boat will launch every 10 seconds.
The tournament committee (District Officers present) will make the decision to hold a fog delay if necessary for safety. If so, the committee will make decisions regarding take off time, extending fishing hours, etc.

SAFETY – Life jackets MUST be worn when the outboard motor is running. This includes coming in to beach the boat, taking the boat on and off the trailer. If you are on the boat, the outboard is running, life jacket MUST be on for all aboard. Failure to do so can result in disqualification in the tournament.

**Any culling system utilized must reduce fish handling stress and injury (e.g., clips and color coding). Devices that use or require punching / piercing a hole in the fish’s mouth are NOT permitted. Fish should not be lifted from a livewell by culling tubes, ropes, etc., in an attempt to reduce stress.

Care should be taken in the morning to try to avoid ramp freezing.  Please allow trailers to drain before pulling up the ramp.
